Free Webcast of Next Week's Presentation at the L.A. Traders Expo

Quite a few readers have expressed interest in the presentation I'll be giving to the Traders Expo in Los Angeles this Saturday, June 6th. The talk will be on the topic: "Coaching Yourself for Trading Success: Best Practices", and it will be held 8 AM - 9 AM Pacific Time at the Pasadena Convention Center.

I'm pleased to announce that the session will be webcast live (and free!) for those who register but cannot attend in person. I also suspect that the webcast will be archived and made available for those who--for reasons of time zone, etc.--cannot participate in the live broadcast. More on that as information becomes available.

And for those who will be there in L.A., I'll be getting together with blog readers after the talk for a little informal coaching. I look forward to meeting new friends!

I would be remiss if I didn't mention that several fine bloggers will be participating at the Expo. Check out the sessions for Brian Shannon, Corey Rosenbloom, and John Forman.

Thanks for the interest; hope to see you there!

Hi Dr. Brett,

I am an avid reader of your blog. Good to know you will be in LA expo and will have a chance to (hopefully) meet you in person. I am just a novice trader and I learned (still) a lot from your blog.

Brett,

I've noticed that another Seeking Alpha writer, Dr. Kris from MIT (who will also be at the LA Money show) has developed a really interesting item called the SMC analyzer on her stockmarketcookbook.com website....it puts together Modern Portfolio Theory and several market timing oscillators - seems she prefers the CCI - in regard to properly allocating assets. Looks like an innovative and new way to allocate, and puts 'buy and hold' to bed for good it seems. Are you familiar with it?

I've been involved in markets for many years and fund managers have never shown that they can effectively time the markets. Maybe they should take a look at it, since this seems to be hard math and there is no 'human' element to louse the results.... Your thoughts on it?

Hi Jeff,

I'm dubious about the CCI strategy, but just linked one of the blog posts on using options to minimize portfolio risk. Worthwhile info IMO--

I hope you're correct about this, otherwise the multitude of us who are sitting for the CFA exam are SOL.

Looking forward to seeing your presentation. Could you tell me where I can view the archived presentations?

Thank you,

Once it's archived, I'll pass along the URL.
